Debits, Credits, & Daydreams

Welcome to Diffie’s Basement 👋

This is my first post. Think of this space as my metaphorical basement—where CPA prep, accounting concepts and real-life lessons live together (sometimes messily, but honestly).

Why this blog exists

I’m Diffie, a graduate student at Wake Forest University studying accounting. I write mainly about CPA and accounting topics, but always through the lens of real experience—school, work, and life in the U.S.

Accounting isn’t just rules and numbers. It’s judgment, risk, and stories hiding behind financial statements.

Here you’ll find:

  • 📚 Clear CPA & accounting explanations (no unnecessary jargon)
  • 📊 Practical thinking behind financial rules and judgments
  • 🐶🏀 Life notes—from study stress to pickup basketball and everything in between

The rule

No unnecessary jargon. No pretending to know everything.
Just clear thinking, practical insights, and learning in public.

If you’re studying for the CPA, working in accounting, or just curious about how money and rules shape real life—you’re in the right place.

(P.S. Yes, there will still be occasional life rants. They’re part of the process.)

Welcome to my basement—a cozy corner of the internet where I write about CPA prep, accounting, and the life happening around it.

Most days, that means breaking down accounting rules in plain English. Other days, it’s sharing what life looks like as a grad student navigating school, work, basketball, and everything in between.

If you’re studying for the CPA, working in accounting, or just curious about how numbers and real life intersect—welcome! This is a space for learning, reflecting, and figuring things out as we go.
